ES shifter

Just bought a 91 Passat and no owners manual, what does the E S switch by the transmission shifter mean and function?

I take it you mean you can switch between E + S The "E" is Economy mode were the box will change up to top gear quicker and the "S" would be Sport and the box would hold each gear longer to give you better performance hope this helps . Ian...
