Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed for about a week now the car has been driving alot louder. The other day the overdrive light was constantly flashing. Got some information online that states the transmition might be going bad. Any ideas???

yes, bad ground at the chassis ground...disassemble and coarse wirebrush this connection to the ground from your 1/0 battery cable clean the surface to shiny and the lug free of any corrosion...put them back...assure the 1/0 battery ground strap goes alright unimpeded with corrosion to the engine block (attaches near the alternator)~ this Principal connection for ground serves the chassis, headlights, dashboard...COMPUTER...many things....some delicate some HEARTY...get a NEW battery if your is older then five, else will be taxing the alternator 'till fail~

as far as your bogging down might suspect the Throttle position sensor, the ambient air sensor, the FUEL pressure regulator if bad will leak vacuum increase idle and issue NO GUTS performance with reduced fuel pressure...as far as LOUDER am going to suspect a jammed EGR valve, you may pull that one out and give it a bath in brake cleaner~ stop it from sticking in the open position~

problems will go away by themselves with GOOD reliable ground...how they see fit to have a 300 amp demand and a 1.5 Ma demand on the same ground bus still eludes me....a recipe for disaster...if ever, because these delicate electronics do not like to see a varying spray of voltages and available amperages...makes them cross signals and fail~

get you diagnostic information revealed from any autoparts store which can connect to the OBD-II port...this might take some of the guesswork out, but a fuel pressure regulator has NO OBD-II code~

a breach in the exhaust (split) near the overdrive solenoid...kicking in...out randomly by bein' pushed by the broken exhaust...seem possible?
