headlights won't turn on

diode in alternator died and so did the headlights.  fuses and relay good.  Now what?

DeadMonkey here, turns out that when jumping the battery we overloaded the lighting system blowing out only both headlights, hi and lo beams and both taillights. Not the running lights or dash lights. Thought for sure that the fuse or the relay would have caught the surge so did not check them at first. As sometimes they are, our assumption was incorrect. Replacing the lights solved the problem but not the mystery. Thanks for the forum.
