MB. C240 4matic question.

Hi peeps, I just purchased an automatic 04 C240, (4matic) Since I leave in New England and the snow is never ending around here. Anyhow,I was just wondering if anyone has an idea on how the 4wheel drive works. Is there a gear I have to put it in or does it automatically put it's self in 4wheel drive when it's slippery. So far I have not had a chance to use it cause the roads haven't been that bad since I got the car. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4Matic .This site has tech info on your system. according to this info it is "automatic". That would be my final answer, and I dont need to phone a friend.... LOL Or you might to contact a Mercedes-Benz dealer and ask them.

The 4Matic is always engaged, but as the owner of a 2005 C320 4Matic I recommend a set of good winter tires.

Definitely having a good pair of winter tires will go a long way. I have an older pair of tires on my 05 c240 and it still goes amazing in the snow. First time I've owned a mercedes and have only had one issue so far
