Engine not cranking

I have a mercedes-benz c220 cdi 2003model automatic, but I
started it and switched it off, now it won't start, what could be
the problem?

Make sure batt . is charged , try a jump start , there may be a starter relay , see if power is getting to the starter solenoid when you hit the key , bang on the starter if you can see if you get one more crank out of it ,
