Most prototypes are destroyed and a few end up in museums.
put in your search engine 1968 charger concept car and read all day about all that went on back then...
Too bad that did not end up in production. That is only a drawing so a prototype of that one may never have been made.
This was a show car for the auto show circuit. There was only one built. It did not have an engine. It had pipe for the axles with nno steerable wheels. It was built in ferndale mich. The windshield seperated from the cowling and hinged in the roof behind the seats. the steering wheel had an arm that pivioted in the center of the dash and the seats would move in a docking motion to move back and up so the driver could get out. It had flaps in the rear that on both sides and across the back that were suppose to be air brakes. hen it was at the Detroit auto show preview night the model was running it through it's cycle and the windshield didn't complete its cycle. The model pushed the down button again which caused systen to go out of sync. The top came down and the seats went up and poked through the roof. That night a pair of covers made to look like roof vents were made and the after the show the car was returned the the shop and the roof and electrical system was repaired before going onto complete the show circuit.
