searching for dodge charger

I am searching for a specific 73 charger.  I've been looking through the usual; carfax, local dmv, and several other websites.  But many of them say the VIN number I have is too short, which it is exactly what was on the insurance card my dad had.  ANy suggestions how best to search for and locate this car?

VinWiz.com recognized the vin number and pulled of the car...but it didn't have any identifying information like...when, where the car changed hands in order to find it? Thank you!
