1974 Dodge Dart Gas Tank Replacement?

Asked by Lopez302 May 13, 2013 at 12:17 PM about the 1974 Dodge Dart

Question type: General

I have a 1974 dodge dart swinger. Its
a slant six 225. The fuel tank it has
now can only carry 8-10 gallons. The
tanks fills up with about $15 dollars. I
want to replace it with a 16 or 18
gallon tank. If i do this will i have to
change the sending unit/floater? Or
will all i have to change is the tank
and im good to go?

If you find a larger tank that will fit, use the sending unit that fits the tank.

everyone I've talked to says "it can't be done" but with a Plymouth Fury tank you could note the interferences and fashion a correct fit with bigger straps and the sender unit would work too~ you'd get the twenty-five gallons but have to go to a fabshop to make it happen~
