Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 78 Ramcharger 4wd..need to replace steering box.  What years or others are compatable?

After very close inspection of my 1974 d100 2 wheel drive pick up and my 87 4x4 dodge ramcharger and my 85 ramcharger I am stripping I have determined all 3 have the same steering box, the ramcharger has the steering box mounted to a bracket which you must use for the proper alignment and possibly use your pitman arm, you gotta remove the entire steering box bracket included remove bracket and put on the new steering box, remove your pitman arm from the old steering box and put on the new steering box, I have not gotten a chance to look at a steering box from a 4x4 pickup but I believe they have the bracket also, unfortunately a scrap yard cannot sell a steering box out of a truck for use in an SUV I actually kept the steering box out of the 85 ramcharger along with everything I could ever use for my 87, including engine, transmission, transfer case, front drive axle, rear drive axle, rear hatch glass, rear side glass, both doors, right front fender and inner fender,
