put the wrong key in my 2007 dakota and now won't start

well see if this helps you any turn the key to on position and turn on the lights and the radio disconnect the positive cable from the battery and let it sit for about 20min or longer no joke the reason for this is because those two things hold power so this will give the computer a chance to clear itself

modern computers do not clear this way. you probably destroyed the ignition cylinder when you put the wrong key in. probably have to replace it.
