I have a Dodge 2007 1500 Hemi 5.7L and it was in a front end collision, 1 day after I get it back the oil pressure went to zero and it's knocking. GEICO said it's a pre existing problem and won't fix it, but we never had this issue before? Any thoughts

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car accident was at about 40 miles per hour and deployed both air bags, it was other guys fault and now I just want my truck running again.  Could this oil pressure issue be caused by the front end collision? or is it really a pre existing problem even though we didn't have an issue before.

Do you have any pictures of the damage? Hope!! There are a number of things that can happen when an engine is knocked around, even at 40mph. GEICO Roots: Government Employees Insurance Co.

Yes IMO the oil pressure problem was almost certainly cause by the collision. If there were no problems with it before, I don't believe in coincidences like that. The thing is, the body shop does not do engine work. They will fix the cosmetics, dents/paint on the body. A different kind of shop is a collision/body shop, they do more but still send it out for Engine repair. You need to have it inspected by a Dealer, you will have to pay for it, but get an affidavit from them that the oil pressure loss was caused by the impact. Have it include total repair costs, itemized damage.... lost of oil pressure and is knocking could be very expensive. Then demand Geico and their silly lizard to pay for the repair, including the money you put out for the affidavit. You may need a lawyer, but he/she can recover those costs, including his/her fee
