The floor of my 1984 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is always damp. What could be causing this?

the actual JEEP instructions for cleaning an evaporator drain involve drillin' a hole at the top of the tube and running a flattened coat hanger though there to push out the spiders and crud that is blocking your evaporator tube~

there is a specific plug part number...duct tape will work fine, but give me a sec to look it up~

1. Pull the carpet down in the passengers foot well and locate the evaporator drain in the housing (See Illustration). 2. Drill a 1/4 inch hole in the center of the drain tube housing as shown. Clear the drain tube with a wire or suitable tool by inserting it through the hole and into the drain tube. 3. Insert plug, P/N 5255217 into the 1/4 inch hole drilled previously. 4. Verify that the drain is clear by operating the system in the A/C mode and observing that water is draining.

Thanks Mark, this is a photo of the area you are referring to. It doesn't have a drain hole/plug

now that I'm looking at it, we may be missing a hose going from the condenser cover to the hole you see in the floorboard. Heading to part store now
