Will a 1987 Jeep Comanche 2.5 liter accept 1990 jeep cherokee 4.0 automatic?

No, The 2.5L 4 cylinder shares the GM 60 degree V-6 bell housing pattern as Jeep formerly sourced GM engines for base models. The 6 cylinder uses the AMC modern-era 6 cylinder bell housing - no similarities between the two.

No, it does not bolt up. also the ecu you have would need to be changed.
