Hello, How fast you are getting a '63 Bug? Or how fast it goes? I have read accounts of these cars going up to 80 mph, but this should be done judiciously. With a car that is over 40 years old, speed limitations depend a lot on prior owners' care and how much of the engine has been updated or rebuilt. Best of luck CarGrrl

i have a 1968 vw bug it was all orginal and the motor only had 39,000 miles on it and i had some friends in the car and i went 85 to see how fast it would go and all that happened was a blown engine , you got a nice car remember that when you drive . keep it under 70mph

My first new car was a 1963 VW Beetle. Top speed on a level road was 72 MPH. I don't remember timing the 0-60, but I would guess around 25-30 seconds.

I think the early sixties beetles did about 72 mph. They would cruise effortlessly all day at 55 ton 60mph.

If you have to ask it is too slow for you.

This answer is exactly correct. My 19663 Bug would top out at 72 MPH on a (long) level road. Up hill? Not so much! It did get something like 28 MPG, which in those days was quite spectacular. But it wouldn't do that in the winter, because I was forced to install a gas heater so I could survive the Chicago area winters without freezing to death.
