what do the dash knobs control on a 1970 VW bug?

there are four knobs on the dashboard of my '70 VW bug.  I can figure out the lights but not the others.  anyone know?

The four control knobs in the centre of the dash are: On the Top row Wipers and Headlights Bottom row are Left and Right Fresh air vent controls.

there are two other controls on the top row.they will operate the heater I think.They are in my '71 vert.

Bought the air vents left and right, 1970 beetle, the vents do not go flush. I only have the mental portion of the dash. Is their another vent for that?
