my steering column broke twice I was not in an accident, why do you think that happens, I don't feel safe driving my car anymore how can i make sure it doesn't happen again? PLEASE HELP

Hello, Ironically, 1972 was the first year for the steering column with a safety collapse feature. Is it literally breaking or is it collapsing? Did you replace after it broke, or fix and reinstall? If the latter, I would recommend getting a new steering column. I hope this helps! CarGrrl

hey thanx for the response, It broke twice..the 1st time it broke I was in an an accident but it wasnt a head on colliision my car got smashed on the side..I replaced it after that accident and it broke again after I got the car fixed..could it be possible that the rubber that connect the suspension needs replacing?
