Look for a parts supplier in "Hemming's Motor News" for the beetle parts you need. You might also look online in "HotVW's" magazine to see if they haven't come up with a suspension upgrade by now.

If you look closer, you may see that the taper end is a separate piece (called a camber nut) that fits over the ball joint shaft and into the spindle. This piece rotates on the ball joint shaft to offer the adjustment. It can be removed from the ball joint.
