nose to tail - all of the hoses, reservoirs and block will contain 18 litres of fluid !
yessir - 18 litres translates to about 4.5 - 4.75 gallons US. you have to consider the hoses/pipes run the entire length of the vehicle. feed and return lines accomodate at least a gal. the radiator and heater core(s) are good for the best of 2 more. water jackets, pump and block galleys will contain another gallon. the 2 reservoirs hold about a gallon combined. this is all fluid - total air bleed. obviously I'm just roughing it out to justify the amount. it seems like a lot until you do the math that doesn't apply to almost every other car on the road.
