What's it worth?

Asked by Cobalt_5388 Mar 26, 2011 at 07:01 PM about the 1987 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm the original owner of an '87 GTI w/about 114,000 mi on it.  It's got ac, manual trans., and drives like a new car.  The inside is in excellent shape - cloth seats have always been protected.  Outside there are no dings, but it could use a painting.  Any idea what it's worth?

If I had an 87 gti w/ only 114k original miles I would cherish it. You know how hard it is to find a 10yr old car with 114k on it? This is twice that. It's not easy to find a mkI thats not super fucked up or in a junk yard. You want money for it Ellen? Put it on vwvortex.com. Someone there will pay you what it's worth. If it really is in perfect shape.

I still have this car. It has less than 150K mi on it now. Am thinking to sell it in late 2015 or so. Have had several local offers but am thinking it might be a good car for someone who's into showing. With a paint job it'd look like new. See cars on vwvortex.com, but the site doesn't list by year and some of the ads are pretty old so it's hard to tell if the cars sold for the listed prices.
