Used struts on a Mazda CX-7

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was in an MVA.  ICBC paid for used struts.  Now in another MVA, am wondering if it is because of these used parts.  ICBC said this part would have failed anyway without the accident from general wear and tear.  Not sure about this??

What is ICBC? Your insurance? If that's the case, and you were covered for an accident, the struts (McPherson struts as in suspension and were damaged?) they only paid for USED struts to repair? Then turn around an say they would have failed anyway? I'm missing something here...don't get it. Can we have more details...about the accident and cause of?

Ok. Without feedback after an hour, I for one can only speculate. Even on what you are asking. A second MVA, and the insurance(?) Aftermarket warranty(?) is saying the used struts would have eventually failed from normal usage, That part is true, they would have...eventually. But CAUSE another MVA? IDK. Pure speculation again, but if a strut broke, at speed, can cause loss of control of your car. But the entire scenario, replacing damaged struts with used, (I HATE saying shoulda-coulda-woulda hindsight is way too easy, but am compelled to do so here) You should not have accepted used parts as repair. But from what I can gather you are asking whether or not used McPherson Struts would have failed. Yes. eventually. Used...sooner rather than later.
