That click could be coming from a bad relay that sends power to the starter. Check for blown fuses. See if that relay is good.
Check battery for proper voltage. Check and clean all connection. If all that checks out and it's a manual trans check clutch pedal switch.

Its one of those self reset ralay
What is a self reset relay? --- A relay receives a small electrical signal and closes a set of contacts. The horn has a relay so you don't need big wires going to and from the steering wheel. ---- You probably mean that it has a resetting circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Circuit breakers are found on the low headlight beam circuits as a safety feature. They are not found on starting circuits.

start at starter end from the small wire that energizes the starter solenoid .does a 12v jumper kick it?
had the same problem, checked the clutch switch and relays found nothing. Pulled starter, checked it, it was good. Put the starter back in and the truck started? One week later it would not start again! Started over with the clutch switch, when I did a blue nylon disc fell off the backside of the clutch pedal. I must have loosen it during the check. This disc covered a hole in the clutch pedal, the clutch switch plunger has worn a hole in the disc. I put a piece of metal over the hole in the disc and double stick taped it back into position. The truck now starts fine.

I had the same problem the only thing you would hear is a click inside the cab it turned out it was a wire on the ignition the keeps blowing off for some odd reason so I think it need a ignition but ones using the wire to make contact to the metal Sauter and attempt to start it i runs
