What would a second hand 1988 Nissan Pulsar Q have been worth in 2002?
I totalled my parents car 10 years ago and didn't make any kind of apology for it. I want to
pay them in cash what they could have earned off the car as if they sold it second hand
in 2002/3. At the time the model was 12/13 years old. It was a 1988 model. If I was trying
to sell the 1988 model in 2002 what would I have got for it? Does anyone know? Can
anyone hazard a guess?

Without knowing the mileage, overall condition, options, etc on the car before you totalled it ...All I CAN provide is a best possible guess on this one. By the way, WHY did you feel an apology and some sort of retribution wasn't necessary until now? Just curious.... Guess I can indirectly relate to this: My brother fell asleep at the wheel of my parent's car one time and destroyed it, but came away unscathed (which you seem to have had the good fortune at as well). -----> Anyway, the Pulsar was one of Nissan's duds and was only moderately popular in the USA, which is why it disappeared from here...I'd say the car would have been worth about $700.00 - $800.00, maybe a bit more, in a Private Party Sale..assuming for miles & overall condition of a 12-13 year old car, if sold in 2002.
Haha. Another guy said it was 10K! Which I thought was ridiculous. I think I will gave them a couple Gs and call it even. Thanks for your help. PS I felt no retribution was necessary because I hadn't realised up until now that I'd done anything wrong!
Someone told you it was worth $10k? That's madness! It MAY have sold for that NEW in 1988...sure as hell wasn't worth THAT in 2002! Glad you are taking the steps to pay back your parents though..that's a very nice gesture!
BTW...$1,000-$2,000 is MORE than generous. Doubt they'd complain about that :)
