Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have an '06 cobalt. We had the fuel pump
changed and now when we put gas in it, it will only
take 2 gallons at a time. They replaced the fuel
pump again and no change. Mechanic checked the
lines, nothing kinked. We need help

It has to do with the EVAP system. The canister may be saturated with fuel, no place for the air coming out of the tank to go. If this is the case it is from overfilling the gas tank. When filling the gas tank your suppose to stop when the gas pump nozzle clicks off the first time. Keep filling and the excess gas over flows into the EVAP system.

I was told if your car is not taking gas its the nozzel in the tank thats gone bad and in.order to fix it the gas tank has to be dropped and the nozzel replaced, is any codes of evap leeks comming up because thats the fix for those as well

Your gas gauge sensor may of got messed when new pump was done, maybe tank is full.... and can't take in more fuel due to no more room... or there is something in the tank arm stopping gas from entering tank... when pump was done, they may of stuffed something in tank arm so gas wouldn't spill out, and forgot about it....?
