Did all 66 Bonnes come with LEATHER seats ?
Asked by mikrobkirk Apr 22, 2007 at 10:04 PM about the 1966 Pontiac Bonneville
Question type: General
I am getting ready to purchase a 1966 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. The seats are leather and are starting to crack. I do not know where to get original replacements. I may want to replace with vinyl instead of leather as a result.

The best I can tell Mike, the leather seats were an option. I couldn't find seats for sale on the web but here's a classified listing that deals with classic Pontiacs. Maybe that will help get you some contacts to get started. Hope it helps. Good luck! http://www.classicpontiacs.com/autosforsale.html

Thank You Lou - I contacted Ames (Pontiac Restoration parts and services) and they said exactly what you said. The leather was an OPTION. No one currently makes the replacement seat covers in leather, only the original vinyl.

Go to www.opgi.com Original Parts Group. They are out of southern California. Also try Year One and GM Obsolete. I have leather seats in my 66 Bonneville convertible and that is what does such a wonderful vehicle justice. Don't go cheap with vinyl. You will NEVER be happy with them. Mine is a frame off restoration and everything is perfect. Vinyl seats would be a letdown and eyesore. Do it right. You won't regret it in the long run. Jeff
