68 Firebird engine space?

Asked by mr_man Apr 09, 2012 at 10:50 PM about the 1968 Pontiac Firebird

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 79TA that had an Olds 403 in it.  Then came across 4 455 Olds motors that I couldn't pass up. Put the 455
in TA with no problem. I also have a 68 and I am just wondering if there is enough engine compartment space for
455Olds and still use the factory hood. The 455 has a port o sonic intake on it so it doesn't stick up very high. thanks
for any help!

I dont see why not , they came stock with 400s ,a 455 is almost the same block. plus they had bb chevy engines in the 68 camaro . I have a 455 in my lemans.it'll fit.

you may run really close on the clearance but as long as the carb/intake setup isnt too ridiculous then i dont see why it wouldn't
