Question type: Maintenance & Repair
69 Pontiac Firebird 350, crank, no start issue. No fuel to carb. Sprayed starter fluid in carb and fired up and died.
Assume ignition system ok. Replaced fuel pump. Still no fuel. Blew air from fuel pump to fuel tank and foun no
restrictions. Vehicle was running good when last used. Thought fuel gauge might be inaccurate so put 4 gals of fuel
in tank. No fuel to fuel pump still.???????

Check for breach in suction line from tank to pump. You could have a hole in line or loose fitting/connection.

Fuel pump is bad very common with the 350's the fuel pump isn't the easiest to replace if its on the block it will be the longest its ever taken you to take off two bolts i havnt replaced one that is in the gas tank so i cant really say anything about it but your fuel pumps bad if its on the block its around 18 bucks at autozone and if its in the tank its about 40 at autozone.

I'm having the same issue. When I went to replace the mechanical pump, everyone told me to make sure the rod was pushed up. I can't find the rod...only a chain like thing. Did I somehow miss it?
