Stalling Firebird

I have a 1988 Firebird V6 2.8L, whenever I
put it into reverse while I am fully stopped,
or when I throw it into drive when I am fully
stopped, it stalls 5/10 times, I am
wondering if this is a common problem? Or
is it easy to fix? Thank you
