Removal of front turn signal lens of 1966 Pontiac LeMans

Asked by Ccord66 Mar 19, 2016 at 09:16 PM about the 1966 Pontiac Le Mans

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having trouble removing the plastic lens  from the front turn signal to
replace the burned out bulb.  The lip along the sides of lens is hanging up on
the chrome bumper.  Any suggestions?

I had one of those cars back in the 60's and as I recall the lens was a tight fit. Tolerances back then were not the same as today. All you can do is shave down one of the plastic edges with either some sandpaper (if there is space) or a sharp blade like an Exacto knife. Only take off enough material to allow the lens to pass the bumper.
