Right headers for a 67 pontiac

Asked by cdf_lemans Oct 12, 2014 at 06:33 PM about the 1967 Pontiac Le Mans

Question type: Car Customization

I just bought a 1967 Pontiac Lemans from a neighbor that has Edelbrock performer RPM heads, Pontiac 400. My neighbor said he paid over $1000 for the headers (that are rusted now) . The headers that are on there now have an odd layout because of the clearance issue with the heads.

Cylinders 1 and 2 pipes go forward and under the cross member frame.
Cylinders 4, 6 3, and 5 are routed the normal way you would expect headers.
Cylinders 7 and 8 are routed into the wheel well then back to join the others.

Because 7 and 8 are routed Ridiculously through the wheel well most tires today (other than skinny 14") will hit the header pipes from cylinder 7 and 8.

My neighbor said he had these pipes made (9 years ago) beacuse of the Edelbrock head and the limited options.

Can anyone recommend an option for new headers?

James thanks for your replies. I think having them made would be the surest way of getting something that will fit.
