Question type: Maintenance & Repair

One of the heads are cracked and I need to get a set but first I need to know what I have that way I know how much I should put into it. I mean if it is a 400 then i may get a set of alumininm heads. or whatever may work best.

there is a number between the middle cylinders and there are charts on web sites to tell you what kind of head you have

could also be a leter number combo i know i had (16) heads on my 68 gto, which was right fot the numbers matching wt engine that was in the car giving that 400 engine 10,75 to 1 compression ratio

You could measure the bore. A 4 in. Bore is going to be a 305-350 and larger could be a 400 but im not sure on the number for the 400.
