Where is the thermostat location

I am somewhat confused in looking at the picture. All information I've read indicates the hose from the radiator leads directly to the thermostat housing. It looks as though one of the bolts for that housing is the one holding the metal, upside down bracket on top of the housing. Is that correct?

If I'm understanding your question correctly then no. It's below that. The picture is a little dark and off center. Just to the right of the yellow dipstick is the housing. You can see the radiator hose coming up to it
