Is it better to replace the motor when a headgasket is blown

My cars a 2007 nissan altima. And the mechanic is saying
the head is blown and if I replace the head of may cause
other things to go wrong in the motor. He saying its better
to replace the motor is this true

it depends on how many miles are on the OD if its a high mileage engine than maybe its time for a new car otherwise a head gasket replacement in itself is not that difficult ( depending on the vehicle) it just takes a lot of time for a motor replacement you are looking at $3,000 or more.

A mechanic told me that once all the crap is circulated through the motor you never get it out , he would not do the head gasket only , Of course people do them all the time .
