07 grand prix steering wheel sometimes makes a sort of musical chime when starting?

Asked by zero0515 Apr 23, 2016 at 02:56 AM about the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every so often when starting a very strange chiming can be heard from behind the steering wheel/driver side dash. Sounds almost like an old video game sound. No warning lights or anything displays. One time this happened it prevented the car from starting and made this beeping "song" continuous. Could this maybe be the car alarm or key chip failing? cant find anything on this

Yes, it could be. Try your other key. I'm not sure if that sort of thing would show up if you scanned it for trouble codes, but it might be worth a try if the problem persists.

I had the same problem. oddly enough the only thing I did to fix was change the battery cables. they were old and corroded I guess it would intermittently short its self out. I got new factory cables off amazon for a decent price.
