When does it happen over bumps or at all times. I would think an exhaust heat shield or possibly something in the catalytic convertor exhaust as well.

In a eight year old car, it could be anything. If it started soon after a repair, go back to that area to see if something is bent or wasn't re-attached. Try to localize where the sound is coming from. Listen with windows up and down, ask passengers, etc.

had a problem with my toyota truck. It kept going squeakily squekyu with every bump. Darn near had me sell the truck because we just couldn't eliminate this noise. Finally we found the speaker mounting clips issuing that kind of nails on a chalkboard serenade- Pulled the speakers OUT, now just have a gaping hole. Could put photos of the dalai llama, Jesus or the BVM in the eight inch holes now~

Any updates I think I'm having the same problem with my 2004 Chevy Cavalier my boyfriend seems to think it's the heat shield what do you think any updates let me know
