Oil pressure light on

130

Asked by LHowze Apr 20, 2017 at 08:12 AM about the 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a PT cruiser  with 94k on it and the red oil
can came light on. It came on last night and it
chimes continuously as I drive but just stays
illuminated when I stop or slow down and doesn't
make any chiming sounds. I don't hear any
knocking and its driving as normal what could that
be? Also how long can I drive (if I should at all)
with this light on? I plan to get it checked out today
but I have driven about 13 miles so far with it on
including last night when it first illuminated.
Thanks in advance!

If you are not hearing any knocking or ticking, that is a good sign. Yes, have it checked, oil pressure verified, it may just be a bad oil pressure sending unit. As long as you are not hearing any noise from the engine, you'll make it to the shop.
