Overheating 2007 PT CRUISER

All air out of system? Are the fans working? Did you directly hook up fans to battery to see? Pressure test system to see if it holds pressure? Correct thermostat and did you install it correctly? Test coolant temperature sensor? Any engine codes? Test radiator cap to see if it holds pressure?
Thanks will try all you suggested
Have you checked it for a bad head gasket?
From what I understand these require the special DEX-COOL antifreeze if that wasn't used could be the head gaskets. Bars Leak has a cork looking thing that will seal for awhile.
the only thing special of that antifreeze is it is long life. using the "wrong" antifreeze wont cause head gasket to fail. stop leak is a temporary fix. A brand i recently used is Blue Devil. its about $40 for 16ounces. follow the directions exactly. to check for bad head gasket, remove radiator cap when it is cold. start engine and look for tiny bubbles. sometimes you can smell engine exhaust from radiator.
Dexcool orange antifreeze is needed to run the car smoothly, the car will go in safemode and start to die if you mix the green and orange. It also causes the car to overheat then eventually if you change the thermostat the car may run too cold and start to die at intersections. Try flushing the antifreeze out with water through the radiator then adding dexcool 50/50. That should solve the problem.
Yeah but u didnt replace the radiator.
All of these answers are fine and dandy. However, I've been working on cars since 1986. What I would like to know from the owner is what became of their '07 PT? Checking for a bad head gasket is easy (basically). The other repairs are moot, until a head gasket has been ruled out. I await an update from the owner, Sheri, please let us all know. :)
Maybe a cap on the engine same problem happened to me and we replaced the whole engine and that helped
I'll bet money that your problem is your ambient air temperature sensor circuit. And yes, I'm a woman and I know what I'm talking about lol! We do exist.

I have a 2006 PT cruiser- injured the radiator, and had it replaced, but the injury also bent the lower holding bracket, so the next radiator didn't last, next replacement the mechanic did some "creative" work, and made something to fit in the now non-standard space. No problem. 1 month of respite, and overheating / coolant loss started again. Pressure test for head gasket came up negative. Another mechanic looked all over, and found a small drip that he thought was from the heater core... replaced that... 2 days later- still overheating, most obviously on any hill, became an issue w/ not even something steep. Replaced head gasket (and they found the head warped, likely from some of those earlier episodes), and machined the head. Replaced the water pump and power steering belt at the same time (access / might-as-well while the labor is already done), this was at 141,000 miles, when it was 7 years old. So.. yeah.. look at the head gasket.

There is a bleeder bolt under the thermostat housing. Must get all air out of the system
My 01 PT Cruiser is now doing the same thing. It developed an exhaust leak at exhaust monifold. It wasn't to bad.I couldn't find the time to fix it because I was working . And then one day I noticed when I started the car that underneath the driver side when I was starting it there was a awkward noise about the middle of the car where I'm sitting. I looked and there's water dripping down from the exhaust pipe for the muffler . It turned out to be about a foot long crack in water when I would start it water was coming out come to find out I repaired that crack and cannot find out that @ when my car started overheating and doing weird things I pulled the exhaust manifold off because only one trouble code showed up and it was for the O2 sensor right there so when I pulled the heatshield off the one day I was repairing the pipe or just give me exhaust manifold I checked all of it make sure thing was good I noticed a misfire in @so I checked everything and then when I pulled the shield off to fix the exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold I noticed that there was a crack in the exhaust manifold from the O2 sensor up . Now today testing is been parked for three days broke down due to overheating . No trouble because it still popped up nothing I think something happen with transmission because it's the button stuck on the reverse car when you go put into gear it's an automatic when you go to put it and get the button stuck in so I can get the key out I got this thing on stock but the key sometimes comes out now at the ignition and when I read that it's not supposed to . So I fixed so I put in the quick steel stuff on the exhaust manifold it worked briefly but I notice I started going through a lot of water during the past week we can have a lot of water and @now at the exact ample thing it is making a loud like a loud exhaust leak EGR to the likely needs yard to the EGR tube where it mounts to the back of the throttlebody does the two bolts 1v1 is an eight I believe and the other is a 13 with a 13 inch one with EG it on the left on the right side if you're if you're under if you're working under the head it's on the right side of it that is been stripped out and I've got to find a part or make a part going today to to tighten and seal down I don't think that is enough that needs to not have my car starting I haven't had the car start I've jumped it it will not start now
