Chevy Malibu stalling

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. Car
runs fine (minus some rough idling) until I
come to a stop light/stop sign. If I sit for more
than 10-15 seconds, Traction control light
pops on (not in the same location as when
roads are icy), gas pedal becomes
unresponsive, leaving my car literally stranded
where it sits until it decides, usually hours
later, to work again. I recently replaced the
mass air flow sensor and thermostat. Any
suggestions?

Our maxx was doing that about 2 years ago. ended up being an intake gasket problem that needed to be fixed and thermostat gauge.
