Does a 2005 Malibu Maxx have a dip stick to check the automatic transmission fluid?

Asked by Catherine Oct 08, 2015 at 01:44 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am having a problem getting my car to shift out of park and into reverse.  I wanted to check the automatic transmission fluid, but I was unable to find a dip stick.  I have done some checking on-line and it seems that GM has done away with it on this type of car.  Mine is a 2005 Malibu Maxx.  Can you tell me if there is a dip stick and if so, where it is located?  Thanks!

Probably no dip stick, but that sounds like the least of your worries. Best take it in and have some one check it out.

There was a recall for the shift cable on the Malibus of that generation. We had the cable replace on our 2006 and 2007 Maxx vehicles under recall repair. Free. Just call your local Chevy dealer.
