i have a 89 944 porche, took dead battery out to get new one, now i cant reopen my hood, car is all electrical, so how do i get hood open to put new battery in please

You can plug into the cigarette lighter socket. They are usually hot all the time.

Sorry, guys, but nope, won't work. The lighter is not powered until the ignition is turned on. Bosch has been doing that for YEARS. Turning on the ignition switch may or may not make the contact since there is no power to the system until some gets introduced, somewhere. Check the owner's manual. It will have, somewhere, a procedure for opening the hood in the case of total electrical failure.
