Its not just the minivans its pretty
much every GM that ran dexcool
from mid/late 90s to mid 2000s. The
dexcool turns into an acid and eats
away at the intake gaskets. They say
it only affects the 3.1 and 3.4 but I
have replaced the intake gaskets on
the 3.8 and 4.3 where the exact
same thing happened. The best way
to go about fixing the issue is to
have the intake gasket replaced with
the doorman gaskets made out of
steel and a heavy duty rubber before
the gasket fails and have your
coolant flushed every 30,000 miles. I
would rather own a GM that will need
a $700 intake gasket replaced than
own a ford that could catch fire due
to the abs module leaking brake fluid
or a dodge that will need a new
transmission every 60k miles.
