Suzuki xl7 problems

Asked by Sxl Nov 13, 2016 at 11:36 AM about the 2007 Suzuki XL-7

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought this car about 2yrs ago and
everything was OK until about two
months ago when the lights and locks
started flickering. Initially it was for about
5mins then stop but now it goes on for a
while. Then recently, all the gauges just
started dropping while the car is driving
and this would stop the flickering, but the
indicators and wipers won't work. I have
to turn the car off and on again to get the
gauges to work again for a bit before it
happens again. Then now sometimes I
can't drive over 60mph on the highway. I
went to an electric shop and the
mechanic said he "thinks" the problem is
the computer. Anybody experiencing
this? Any help on how to fix this problem?
Thanks.

While the car is on take a multimeter and test the battery it should be at 14v if anything less the alternator is bad. If its at 14 volts then also check the battery with the car off. If its less then 10 volts the battery is not holding a charge anymore so you have to change the battery. Before changing the battery make sure your battery terminals are good

Its the computer board....I drove my car to mechanic yesterday to get some other issues fixed and while I was there...the mechanic could not get the car to start again...he ran his scanner and it had all kinds of messages saying what was wrong..even old codes...but the main thing was the computer board crashing..had to tow to dealership
