Your computor will do the advace but as far as to setting the timeing belt or chain has to be right first

same as Mark there is no distriburator computer takes care of it all. if it's running and knocks when you press gas pedal knock sesnsor bad if not running then it's possible timing chain jumped or crank sensor bad
