What functions does the timing relay control in the 2008 Ford Escape?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The Owners Manual shows a relay identified as Timing Relay on the fuse panel
diagram. There are a number of functions that are time controlled in the
automobile. Are all of them somehow utilizing this relay? If not, which ones are?

I think that what you are looking for is the central timer relay or accessory delay relay in the smart junction box/ interior fuse panel. the sjb isn't so smart as most of the relays that it has in it aren't serviceable and the module is programmable. Meaning that it can't just be replaced. It can however communicate and be diagnosed using the right equipment. judging by your other post that means pulling the lamp or going to the dealer.

Thanks Guy, I still need to figure out how the timing circuit is arranged for the dome light. I really would like to have it working properly to light up the interior of the car on dark nights when I am unlocking the doors or even trying to locate the car in the dark.
Is fuse 9 in the sjb good?

Thanks Guy for giving this dummy the clue to my 'problem' which really wasn't a problem at all. I had the dash board dimmer switch turned up past the maximum brightness point and, as designed, the dome light stayed lit as long as the switch stayed in that position. I have some egg on my face; I should have tried this. I have used similar switches in other cars to turn on the dome light but somehow, i forgot all about that!! Thanks Guy for all your excellent help given "Because you like to do it". Jim Christensen
