A turbo-charged 2.5L Boxer Flat Four (H4). The WRX STi has a 305HP engine while the WRX is around 240HP. They are very reliable engines when taken care of. Most turbo-charged Subaru engines will run to about 175,000miles while the natually aspired engines will usually run for 300,000miles or more! Get's great fuel economy for a 4WD Turbo-charged sport's car! However I prefer the non-turbo models because there's no turbo lag! Easy car to tune! I would recommend getting a WRX because it costs alot less and with the money you saved you can upgrade your ride to be better than an STi.

Nah mate. 2.5lt has been the norm for the past 2 WRX models. I think they introduced it to try and remove/reduce the torque hole that they had with the 2lt.

the wrx was a 2.0 h4 from 1992 to 2005 then it switched over to the 2.5 which makes more sense and is better for all of us from the tuning stand point. Wrx would be the way to go over the sti. My friend that i work with has a 02 wrx he is selling its an awesome car.
