Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I want to install LED bulbs, abut need to change the signal flasher to prevent the signals from blinking fast. Thanks. I checked under the dash above the pedals, I removed the cover panel that is there but didn't see anything, I even checked behind the glovebox, there are fuses and whatnot there but I couldn't recognize if the flasher relay box was there or not, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

The owners manual states that the fuses for the light are located in the Totally Integrated Power Module (fuse panel) under the hood by the battery. So I would look there.

Thanks Larry, didn't even think to check under the hood for fuses, all my past vehicles the fuses for the signals were always inside the car, I will check it now and let you know. Thanks! I am sure I would have found that information out if I read the owners manual myself, but I guess you can say I have no patience for reading books, lol. Thanks again!

No problem, I hope that's where it is. I hate reading through 400+ page manuals also. I'm glad you can search pdf version of manuals now.

I have a 2003 jeep liberty. We had trouble with the flashers going on with the right turn signal. I found the module in the rear of the vehicle near the left trun signal just behind the bumper. I also heard the nwere models moved it to the under stering column area. That panel under the steering colunm just pulls off. Just grab it and tug hard and it will hinge downward. The fuse panel is on the side dash where the driver side door hinge area is. That cover also pulls off. Now the flasher looks like a module type. Slim and has a two inch wide plug in.

Anthony the fuses for the lights are not under the hood they are in the interior fuse panel where I stated drivers side door hinge area on side of dash, Pull off cover.

On my 03' Liberty I am not getting a left turnsignal at all. Changed all of the bulbs and fuses in fuse box. You state that there is a module in the rear left under the bumper? What is located there and how did you fix your problem? It does make sense as I backed into something on the rear left corner of my bumper and pushed in the plastic a bit. Thanks

Hopefull you changed the bulbs that needed changing. They are sometimes really hard to se blown. Well the middle bulb is the turn signal bulb with a double elements. My issues was resoloved is when I discovered a harnessess box embedded in the rear left bumper. Look under with a bright light toward the inside of the bumper from underneath. This box harness went to several wires that went to each light and the hitch connector. This was shorted out. So I cut off the wires to the hitch cable removed it and the issue was resolved. 716-826-1747 or mrsafetyman1102verizon.net for more questions. You replaced the right bulb correct? Make sure after you twist them out you swist them back in securely. If that does not help you may have a turn signal arm issue where the turn signal control arm inside switch is shot, There is a flaher inside the dash behind the radio just above the radio. Needed to take the area apart to get at it. in fact you can hear it clicking behing there when you put on the turn signal. Again put your ear up to the two discharge vents above the radio, youll hear the clicking when turning on the turn signal.

your flashers going fast is a built in indicator that lets you know a bulb is not functioning properly. It states that in your manual. Make sure you check both front and rear turn signal bulbs. either one or both could be the issue or it could be another bulb indicator. They are not LEDS they are twist lock filament bulbs., Two screws on side of rear left tail light are approach by opening the back door and reaching in between the tailgate and hinge area. Reach with a normal legnth STAR driver to remove both screws. Then you need to agressively pry the light off. Be carefull to watch how it comes off. . The right side is easier because the door is not in the way. The screws are right there when you open the door. To take out a light socket you must turn the socket hard. they twist lock in place, NOT pull out. Once you twist out the light socket the bulb just pulls out and the new one just pushes in. Now the socket must be twisted back in place then the lamp assembly reattached properly! two screws reset back in .

Thanks a lot. The harness that you speak of was hanging down when I went to look for it. I live in Pennsylvania and we have heavy snow/salting of the roads and I drive 60 miles a night. I'm guessing that I do have to change that harness. I do not have a hitch or anything though. Probably have to go to the dealer to get a new harness i'm guessing? Do I need it or can I just cut and re-wire it?

so you had the same wiring harness connectors i had, wow thats great. We have a hitch and mine went to the plug in for the trailer. I cut them off up high in the bumper and wirenutted them and put electrical tape over the wire nuts. You can also fill the wire nuts with glue from a glue gun. We do not haul anything ANYMORE SO AS i STATED i ELIMINATED IT. I am glad I could help! We are ACTUALLY GETTING RID OF IT SATURDAY AND GETTING A RAV4

tmicca remember, its may not be the flasher. Bulbs blown will also cause what you are experiencing. Trouble shoot the easiest first. Check all the bulbs I mean even the front and rear bulbs on the same sides. If its not the bulbs then check the flasher. If its not the flasher and you have a hitch with connectors for a trailer in back, it may be that connector box hardware just inside the rear bumper. Take it step by step. bulbs first!

as Edward stated behind the radio. i hoped you checlked all the bulbs. Most people cant even remove the rear light housing yet alone remove the bulbs. How did you check the bulbs?? Just a visual?? or did you use a tester. ckt tester for continuity?
