Oh and make sure you get it timed correctly. You have an interference engine and if not timed correctly you will bend some valves. (Major engine damage)
dont even attempt to do it without the kit. j-42069 1000 dollars it is the mechanic grade. 2nd and cheaper choice otc6687 knock off aftermarket kit. can be ordered online for around $150.00 and couple of really good how to videos on how to use the kit on you tube. hope I helped
Should I leave the crankshaft mark at 60deg.btdc on the crank in order for the pistons not hit the valves and leave the can on its marks correct
Hey I need to know what the valves on a 05 Saturn L300 need to be set
2000 to 2004 Saturn 3.0 V6. FROM HAYNES MANUAL Cam shaft marks to be lined up with grooves,on back of cam shaft cover.use the mark closest to the numbers 1,2,3,&4 .from left to right, that are found stamped on all 1 thru 4 cams. Next?Bottom Crank alignment mark goes straight down BDC With harmonic balancer removed bottom dead center. Now all timing marks are set.Locking tool for upper cams suggested,as valve springs will cause cams to drift if not properly held in place.Next? Installing the timing belt.Find the painted marks,on the timing belt "with arrows",point them ,to the right.,"installed between the cams sets #3 & 4" Crank timing marks, found on the belt ,should be lined up with the marks, on the BDC of crank.belt painted with 2 stripes, and all four cams.Should have the belt marks aligned,as goes.single stripe lines on belt.Water pump always recomended with new timing belt installations. .From Cracker Jack. .SD California .
Plastic Timing cover on Saturn 3.0 V6 will yank off,,, past the bottom right hand pulley w/o the difficult pully.removal..."Pullers"
