Why is my car not turning off?

My 2003 Chevy Impala is continuing to run
when the battery is disconnected does this
have something to do with my alternator or
what could be going on with my car why does
it continue to run.

Do NOT disconnect the battery with the engine running!! This is a very old school way to test the alternator. If the engine continues to run the alternator is good. But with a newer vehicle you run the risk of frying the computers and other electronics!! Sounds like you got lucky this time. But please don't do that again!! Hope that helps! Jim

Did you turn the key off? If it still runs with key off, a gasoline engine can't run w/o spark unless it's dieseling. The pink wire at ignition module is primary voltage, goes hot with key on, if voltage there with key off, maybe something wrong with ignition switch? Just a thought. You need to do some testing.
