starting up at times

new battary and altenator put in key at times want start only dashboard lights no ticking. wait 10 minutes sometimes start and sometimes not. 2003 Sabb  se 9-3 convertible. automatic.

Check the connections on the battery first sounds like they may be loose or maybe there is corrosion on them. If not it may be that the leads were not correctly re-installed. Safety reminder: A car battery is designed to release a large amount of energy in a short period of time. Exercise caution when working with it; and remember always remove the negative connection before the positive.
