I have a 2008 Pontiac vibe I was at a stop sign when my car stalls and it will not start.

The  Engine sounds like it wants to
start but it just doesn't get there.
This has happened before and after
pushing the car off to the side of the
road it started. The car has  a lot of
miles on it and normally drives like a
champ.

My best guess is ... a crank sensor pickup unit ... or a fuel pump ... usually the pump will give you a warning with hard starting ,,, the crank sensor will tease you making you think it wants to start but of course it won't. It could be many things but those are where I would start
