Wow john you have all kinds of issues here, and it's difficult to tell what is interrelated and what isn't. If these problems are too annoying to live with you need to get to a dealer to have them run the diagnostics at a minimum. The battery light issue has to be run down to see what the problem is there. You have several needles in your haystack and someone has to lay hands on that vehicle. Good luck!

I just experienced this kind of issue with a 08 Silverado that I recently purchased. Doors looked and unlocked, A/C would turn off, radio would chain, gauges going crazy, cruise would stop. Battery gage from 11 to 15 volts. I stopped by a GM dealership. Paid $90.00 for a diagnostic. They said alternator was bad. replaced with original GM alternator. I drove the truck about 300 miles. It still didn't seem just right, so I had the battery checked. They said battery was bad, and that's what might have cause alternator to fail! Replaced the battery. Verdict still out. Battery gage still varies, not as much though.

Guys I had the same issue, I was driving down the expressway and all of sudden my 2008 Chevy Silverado Z71 LTZ 6.0L started having the locks go on and off. I have them set to open close in park. And set out of park, safety's sake. The gages started going up and down, the truck acted like it was going to die at 55mph everytime. Radio was on Sirius, it went to local radio station and went on and off. I thought damn this thing has a major problem, can I make it to a repair shop? I drove it to NAPA in case I needed a part. Then I remembered, the other night when I was in a drive-thru, the yellow check engine light came on and my lights were going dim. I turned the damn truck off to restart it and see if light would go off. When I turned the ignition, there was no response truck was dead. I am a disabled vet in a wheelchair, so I signaled to workers to help, they came out and pushed me into parking lot. One of the workers offered to help see if we could get it going. He was a prior mechanic, when he moved the red positive baterry cable, the lights in cab came on. I started the ttuck and that was it. At NAPA after looking at this site, I wondered if it was that battery issue. I got in my wheelchair opened the hood, leaned over and noticed my red cable was loose. I went back to my truck, got a hammer and hammered that sucker on there really good. Guess what? That's what caused the issue, loose positive battery cable. Hope this helps.

My husband are driving cross country from Florida to Washington stopping along the way. In the middle of no mans land Nevada. Our 2011 Chevy Silverado started experiencing the doors locking and unlocking. Bermuda triangle crap. Luckily I had 1 bar of data and googled the problem that lead me to this thread. It was a loose positive battery wire. THANK YOU!!! So helpful and we are very thankful for your input!

The driver's door electrical switch controls door locks, and windows, and has a function in the alarm. A dash message said the drivers door was ajar when it was closed, no ability to arm the burglar alarm. I did check the battery cable connections as well. Unplugging the wiring to the drivers door switch stopped the crazy lock and unlock problem and regained control of the burglar alarm. The other windows opened on their own and were challenging to close, but once the drivers door switch was unplugged, I could use each individual door control to close the window glass. Only the drivers door window was stuck open. I ordered a replacement AC Delco switch control and plugged it in and all is back to normal. The electrical driver's door switch had failed. Hope this helps someone.

You may want to check the chassis ground. Bad grounding can cause all kinds of erratic behavior

While driving my 2009 Silverado just started doing the same thing with the door locks. When the door locks start acting up the shift indicator flies back between Park and drive. The vehicle loses power and transmission shifts funny with all kinds of lights coming on on the dash. I checked connections at the battery all seem good.

BCM is what it sounds like ruined a transmission in my younger days because I had places to go and things to do started losing power had a small miss then got worse when it got in overdrive the dash would start rattling lol but I've got a 04 Z71 Suburban doing all of the above and my battery lights flashing saying it's not charging my door switch is saying it's not closed sunroof will slide back but won't vent dash lights are just crazy saying everything is wrong so I'm thinking it's the BCM it runs all that crap I unplugged the ground for 30 min and ran like a champ took it 4-5 miles down road thought man must been my security or crank sensor because buddy of mine had messed with my crank wires I've got ran in my fuse box anyways I thought it had reset bout an hour went to go to store wrong lol had to turn it over 2-3 times before it would crank then the missing then the power loss and lights in dash going crazy if someone else has an idea please I'd like to hear it thank you.

The driver's door electric switch controller can go bad, mine did. It started randomly opening the windows driving down the road and cycling door locks. It ties into the alarm system and thus lights as also stated by Guru1GS2V. It can be unplugged to see how the vehicle behaves. Just have to open the drivers door trim to get to it.

I have a 2008 chevy 1500 with 5.3 and it was doing all these things mentioned above. Ac go off, gauges would be all over the place, it would shift really hard, the doors would lock and unlock. I did some research and it said on higher mileage vehicles the grounds would go bad and on this truck there were seven of them. There was only one that was bad and it was under the top of the dash where they had three tied together. how you tell if a ground is bad or not as if it does not look like it's copper anymore. If it's black or dark green that means it's being overused and needs to be replaced or cut back to new copper and put a new fitting on. The single one in this picture is the one causing me all my problems. And what's even more funny is all the craziness would happen more when I was in a heavy turn guess because of body roll. This fixed all my crazy issues. I redid all the grounds and didn't mess with the one under the dash because I thought it was going to be really hard to get to but it wasn't at all. It wasn't until I did the one under the dash for my issues to go away.

My 2008 4.8L Silverado just did the door lock and unlock thing while I was doing 75 on the interstate. I have had previous electrical issues with my truck, its been in the dealership twice for electrical issues and I have always been a Silverado guy but I'm growing tired of this nonsense. I will check ground connections but my passenger window control has been working when it wants to for a year so it could very well be that the electrical door switch is messed up. I will report what I find
